SailBermuda Captain Caleb Zuill

Captain Caleb Zuill was born and raised in the Islands of Bermuda. His family has been a part of Bermudian culture since the very early 1700’s, with the first mention of a Captain Robert Zuill in 1713. From that time on, the Zuill name has been synonymous in Bermuda with shipbuilding and ocean voyaging. Caleb carries on his family heritage today as a fully qualified charter sailing captain.

As well as being a sailing captain, Caleb is a firefighter and E.M.T. (Emergency Medical Technician). His shift schedule, however, allows him plenty of time to engage in his first passion – Sailing. Caleb has been sailing Bermuda’s waters since the age of eight, learning to sail in small “enterprise” vessels. He later graduated to larger craft, working in the summer on a 40 foot yacht with his father (also Robert), a charter sailing captain as well. Caleb learned much about chartering and handling larger yachts from his Dad, who still sails today under a pirate flag (just kidding!). Soon after that, Caleb moved on to skipper a local 53ft Sail Catamaran, but the desire to be captain of his own vessel began to grow.

He purchased Shekynah in the early Summer of 2001, and has been chartering her locally ever since. Caleb plans to eventually sail Shekynah around the world.
